Understanding Online Giving

Donating online to the Church of the River is a convenient way to make your regular offerings, one-time gifts, or payments without writing a check or bringing cash to the church office. Just like writing on the memo line of a check, you can indicate what the gift or payment is for. You can also set up a regular donation schedule.

Is online giving secure?

Yes. The Church of the River uses Vanco Services, LLC, to transfer funds directly to the church. Vanco is an established, well-respected company, which processes contributions for more than 10,000 churches and non-profit organizations. Information submitted online is protected in compliance with federal and state regulations, including firewalls and data encryption.

Which of my bank accounts should I use?

Online donations from checking or savings withdraw funds from your checking or savings account and transfer them directly to the church’s bank account; they are virtual checks. Donations made with credit or debit cards go through a credit agency (such as Visa, MasterCard, or Discover) before reaching the church.

Am I paying a fee when I donate this way?

Each type of online giving (checking, savings, or credit/debit card) incurs some kind of fee. These fees are absorbed by the Church of the River as administrative expenses. They are not deducted from your donations. However, you will have the option to increase your gift by 2.75% to help offset these processing fees.

Thank you for your gifts and payments that support the life of the Church of the River. If you have questions, please contact the church office at 901.526.8631 or by email.
